GALLERIA UMBERTO I
In front of the Theatre there is the main facade of the Umberto Gallery built up between 1887 and 1900. Typical building of the "Umbertina" age, the Gallery of Naples is among the buildings of the sort, one of the more imposing and important in Italy for the breath and the maesty of the transparent architecture made of iron and glass. The vault (cupola),of Paul Bo is high m 57 and set up on one octagon of m 36. The walls and the arcades are enriched by one of the most fine decoration… From the Gallery we can approach “Theatre Margherita” below, knows for its circular umbrella-vault , all decorated. symbolic place of the “beautiful epoque”, today unfortunately badly conserved for recent modernizations. |
