MATERDEI STATION

Materdei station has been opened on the 5 July 2003, designed by the Atelier Mendini like the one of Salvator Rosa, this station is a triumph of colors and topics navy, It makes a zone of Naples more accessible. The accesses are in piazza Scipione and surroundings,built up in the centre of a neighbourhood constructed in the first half of the 1900's. The area has been now completely forbitten to cars, and enriched with green, street furniture and architectonic elements. In the middle of the square there is a vault made of steel and glass, element of distinction of the Atelier Mendini. The atmosphere of access to the station is wide and luminous: mosaics greens cover all the walls, while marine images are the topic of the mosaics of Sandro Chia.
