IL TEARO SAN CARLO

It is one of the most important and huge lyric theatres of the world.
It took its name from king Carl III from who built up the theatre in the first half of the 700. It was inaugurated for the nameday of the king, with the first “Achille in Sciro” of the Metastasio, music made by Domenico Sarro. Later on the acoustic was improved and Ferdinando Fuga. Renewed inner decoration (1768),in the beginnings of `the 800 was joined  the huge entrance hall and the large one loggia in the facede that was center of the Academy of the Knights and from 1861 of the Circle of the Union. In 1928 the roof was built up and renewed the stage and the furnishing. In 1938 the "ridotti" in the side towards the Garden was added . The Hall (m. 28. x 22.) large and strict, all a pomp of gold is famouse for the perfect acoustics. Beautifulst the royal theater box and the others 184 theater boxes

The total capacity is approximately 3000 spectators.The vault is painted by Giuseppe Cammarano, Apollo is represented who introduces to Minerva the greater Greek poets, Latin and Italian.

The curtain of Mancinelli (1854) represents the MUSE and Omero with 80 between poets and musicians disposed to groups
