THE ROYAL PALCE OF CAPODIMONTE

The Royal Palace stands out between the dark green of the great park that encircles it. They started to build up in the 1738 for the willing of the king Carl of Borbone, but only completed in the 1838.
Its classic shapes are characterized from the liveliness of the pilasters made of “piperno” on the bottom clearly of tiles.
It gives hospitality to the “Farnese Museum” at first: after the 1860 began the center of a Museum that comprised the Royal Armory, the “Salottino of china” of Queen Maria Amalia, one section of china and smaller collections.
Sometimes the priceps of Savoia took it as residence and then, until 1947, the dukes of Aosta.
Currently it gives hospitality to a huge museum of which is part the great “National Pinacoteca”, one of the most important of Italy
It is encircled  by the park and  the forest of Capodimonte extended on 120 ha.
