Ida's room

The third daughter of Nicola Lecaldano, met Domenico Pace from Guglionesi, a small town in Molise who came to Naples to attend University at the end of 1800. They married in 1900 and had 5 children: Vittorio, Marcello, Lucio, Manlio and Linda, our mother and grandmother. Domenico Pace was Cardarelliís favourite pupil and graduated with full marks in medicine in 1895. He was a lecturer in pathological medicine from 1900 and in clinical medicine from 1905. In 1910 he became head of The Institute of Medical Semiotics A great doctor, he concentrated his studies and research in the new-born branch of Cardiology. With the beginning of the technological period, he was the first in Italy to buy an electrocardiograph, with the aid of which he researched and made many discoveries about the anatomy of the heart. Ida did not like to be photographed, and the picture hanging in this room is the only portrait of her.
