"Glad I chose this hotel"

What a fantastic location in a old, historic, busy, but not awful part of Naples. It's close to all important tourist sites. It's hard to imagine locations of some hotels in Naples because the city is strung out along the bay and some locations are hard to get to and too far away from things if you are a tourist. Once I traveled around the city, I realized what a bonus location the Chiaia de Charme has. This hotel is above a pedestrian shopping street, so the noises you here are mostly people, not cars. I live in a city, so a bit of noise is no big deal. It's quiet at night. But being Italy, you will encounter some scooters and service vehicles using the street. The staff was outstanding. They acted with friendliness and aplomb. And they were helpful and knowledgeable in helping me with my tourism needs such as restaurants (try Amici Mei) and train schedules. One of them had the brilliant idea of taking the hydrofoil to Sorrento and renting a motorbike to cruise down the Amalfi coast. Wow. My room was a large corner unit. The ceilings were high. The bed was perfect for a good sleep - not too soft, not too hard. The spotless bathroom was a tad tight. The tub had a jacuzzi. The shower was hot as I wanted, when I wanted. My only complaint,is that for some reason there were no curtains covering the French-door windows on the 2 outside walls. Other rooms had curtains. It would have been nice to have light coming in without people across the street peering in (they didn't peer, but they could have). As a result, I generally kept the doors closed and did not have a lot of natural light in the room. As to Naples, it's not the terrible place some people say it is. It is the oldest city in Italy (about 2700 years old), so it has "history". You see by the architecture that until the start of the 20th century it was an extremely wealthy city. But yes, it's boisterous, crowded and dirty, the street paving is awful. Basically, Naples needs a cleanup and a face lift. Taxis there are rather expensive. I must say the with some much to see in and around Naples, the 4 days I had was not enough. Another 2 or 3 would have been ideal.
"Beautiful small hotel"

My wife and I stayed for four nights at the Chiaja Hotel de Charme and have only good things to say about it. Small room, but beautifully done with 15 foot high ceilings, drapes etc. In a city of old palaces it's fitting to stay in one yourself. Staff very pleasant and helpful; able to tell you what bus to take or where to eat in the neighborhood - which, I must say, in Naples is not very hard to do. There may be a bad restaurant in Naples but we didn't catch a whiff of one.
The location of the hotel is fine - we spent a lot of time walking around the dense and culturally amazing Spacconapoli (the "historic centre") which is about a twenty minute walk from the hotel. It would have been ideal had it been half that distance but we never really minded the walk. In short - excellent hotel and well recommended.

This hotel was recommended to me for proximity to the opera house in Naples. It turned out to be much more. It was absolutely charming with an enormously helpful staff. The location on Via Chiaie was perfect for sightseeing as well as being 2 minutes from the opera house. The room I had was charming with a comfortable bed and some lovely antique furniture. The hotel itself is small and intimate, one flight up off a small courtyard. There is an elevator. The breakfast room is quite lovely and the coffee was absolutely wonderful. I would definitely return. I was there in January 2006.

3 friends and I stayed at the Chiaja Hotel for 2 nights in early Sept. The staff was great as was the breakfast. The rooms were a bit small but we didn't spend much time in them so that was fine. It is very convienent to restaurants, shopping and the sights.

This hotel does merit its name 'hotel de charme'. Nicely furnished with good taste.
Wonderful and friendly staff. The room was cleaned twice a day ! The location is great too
